The Hillwalkers Prayer

Our Father, who art in Knoydart,
hallowed be thy bivi.
Thy compleation come,
thy will be done,
on earth as it is in Cuillin
Give us this day our daily Sgurr.
And forgive us our Geal Charns,
as we forgive those who Geal Charn against us.
And lead us not into plantations,
but deliver us from Dreish.
For thine is the Knoydart, the Fisherfield and the Cuillin. for ever and ever. A’Mhaighdean.

(c)The Reverend Ronaldo November 2008

Excellent stuff Ronaldo. Been on the Sex & Drugs & Rock & Roll ?

Reminds me a bit of Ian Dury's lyrics for the BUS DRIVER'S PRAYER

Our Father,
Who art in Hendon
Harrow Road be thy name
Thy Kingston come
Thy Wimbledon
In Erith as it is in Hendon.
Give us this day our Berkhamsted
And forgive us our Westminsters
As we forgive those who Westminster against us.
Lead us not into Temple Station
But deliver us from Ealing,
For thine is the Kingston
The Purley and the Crawley,
For Iver and Iver
Crouch End

Good to see somebody else with musical taste, indeed that was the inspiration, I did, however, refer to the Lord's Prayer to ensure the word structure, syntax etc was spot on.

Like all good ideas, once I had it, simple, took me about 5 minutes to write and oh yes a bottle and a half of medicinal wine. Embarassed

Well done Ronaldo.
lets hope everyone recites this before the Aviemore meet, and we get weather like we had today in Edinburgh.

That's a relief - all we need is for "Sgt Howie" to turn up on the friday and we'll have a nice toasty celebration.

Must pm him and encourage him to attend Twisted Evil

Slight variation:

Our Father, who art in Bla Bheinn,
munrobagging be thy game.
Thy compleation come,
thy will be done,
on Earth as it is in Cuillin.
Give us each day our daily tread.
And do give us our weekend passes,
as we forgive them that say we trespass against them.
And lead us not into plantations,
but deliver us from midgies.
For thine is the Cuillin, the Fisherfield and the Assynt. For ever and ever. A’Mhaighdean.

Hmm. And to paraphrase that nice Mr Pratchet, you'd all stand on top of the In Pin in a thunder storm wearing copper waterproofs whilst shouting "All gods are b@st@rds!" wouldn't you ? The next time you're out in the wet, or even the slightly damp, remind me to be on the next hill over. With a camera ready.
